Joe Williams
Hi my name is Joe Williams and I grew up in North Alabama. Car repairs and car maintenance have always been of interest to me. Since I was a young teen, I was changing oil and replacing brake pads on our family’s cars and trucks. My neighbors and co-workers took time with me to help and show me how to do some different types of repair work when I needed help. To those people I am forever indebted as they helped me discover a passion I had for working on cars and trucks. In the fall of 2000, I met Greg Cook at a local church. I realized Greg had the same passion with cars and trucks that I did. Greg actually had an idea to offer free oil changes to the community and the local church was gracious enough to sponsor this ministry. Since something like this was right down my alley, I jumped at the opportunity.
One of the frustrations I’ve experienced is ability (or lack of) in reading comprehension. Written instructions absolutely drive me crazy! I know it’s a part of life that we have to accept. Many times trying to figure something out, I would say “I wish there was a video of this so I could actually see how to do it”. Greg and I have discussed the idea of doing car repairs / maintenance on-line for a while. So one day, we decided to do it. To video different car repairs and maintenance and make those available to the public.
I hope these videos are of use to you. Maybe you see the video and it gives you confidence to do the work yourself. Or maybe you see how difficult something is and you decide to hire the work done. Maybe you’re getting the work done and you wonder why the quote for the work is so high. In any case, these videos will empower you to make the decisions you need wisely. Feel free to with comments and suggestions.
Greg Cook
Greg: I have had an interest in cars all my life. I use to wear holes in the knees of my jeans playing with my Match Box and Hot Wheel cars as a kid. As I grew older my attention switched to real cars. My Dad was a do it yourselfer and I helped him when he worked on our cars. At 10 or 11 I started subscribing to Hot Rod magazine and later I started getting 4 wheel and Off Road. I took three years of auto mechanics in High School and was in the top of my class. I was even offered a scholarship to a local technical school but I decided to go to college instead. Even though I work as a software engineer my love for working on cars has never waned. Joe and I started a car care ministry at our local church. We started the car care ministry to help those in need and to serve our community. Teach-Me-Auto.com has grown out of our passion for working on cars and our passion for helping others. Feel free to with comments and suggestions.
